Suspected armed political thugs have allegedly abducted five witnesses scheduled to testify for the opposition Action Alliance in the ongoing Kogi State Governorship election petition tribunal case on Monday.

The alleged abductees were said to be witnesses in the petition filed by the candidate of the Action Alliance, Olayinka Braihmoh in the November 11th, 2023 off-cycle election, Olayinka Braihmoh.

The witnesses were said to have been abducted at the premises of the National Judicial Institute in Abuja, where the Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is sitting.

The Action Alliance Governorship candidate told ait.live that the abductees were allegedly molested, with their family members similarly threatened, for daring to testifying regarding electoral malpractices during the election in 2023.

Barimoh claimed that the whereabout of other witnesses are still unknown, while vehicles conveying the witnesses for the Court proceedings were vandalized by the attackers.

At the time of this report, it was gathered that four of the victims had been rescued by the Police, while one is at the State CID Lokoja.

The Federal Capital Territory Police command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh said in a telephone chat that the Command is unaware of the alleged attack.
