The administration of Bola Tinubu says it has invited controversial Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, for questioning over his comments on the activities of bandits in the country.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Information and Orientation, Mohammed Idris, on Monday while addressing journalists at the State House, Abuja.
According to the Information Minister, Gumi is not above the law, adding that the government has deemed it necessary to invite him for questioning.
Over the past few years, Gumi has continually advocated for the rights of bandits and terrorists linked to high level kidnappings and attacks in the country.
In a recent interview, Gumi urged the Tinubu to call the military to order over the consistent bombardment of terrorist hideouts upcountry.
The controversial preacher also urged the federal government to grant dozens of bandits terrorising the country amnesty similar to that which was established by the Musa Yar’Adua administration.
