Wike, Fubara, Rivers Godfatherism

The Former Governor Of Rivers State and FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike has alleged that the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Sim Fubara is inciting legal action against the Speaker and Assembly members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

He stated that the ongoing dispute between the governor and the state House of Assembly is due to the governor’s refusal to adhere to previous agreements made with the President and to the court order.

He clarified that a court of law had nullified the previous budget, with the governor’s legal counsel opting not to contest the matter during the court proceedings.

Given these developments, he stressed that the governor’s compliance with legal rulings and prior agreements would mitigate any further conflicts in the state.

He said in an interview with TVC, ”What the Assembly was saying is that the governor should comply with the law and comply with the agreement he had with the President.

If he complies with that, he will not have any problem. A court of legal jurisdiction has set aside the previous budget. During the hearing of the matter, the counsel to the governor withdrew all the processes filed against the state House of Assembly. So he did not defend the matter.

The so-called former Speaker also withdrew all processes through his counsel. So it then means that they have conceded to re-present the budget.

But now He [Fubara] is instigating so many people to file an action against the speaker and members of the house. But he has forgotten that a court had given this speaker and these members of assembly a legal and due recognition.”

The Rivers State House of Assembly headed by Honourable Martins Amaewhule has threatened to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara after claiming that the governor did not heed the resolution made by the President.

Honourable Amaewhule who claimed that the governor has refused to re-present the 2024 budget to the members of the house.
