For motorists and business owners along the reconstructed/rehabilitated Dhamija-Trans Ekulu flyover road, it’s the dawn of a new era as they showered praises on the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah for giving the road the much needed attention.
Some of them who spoke to our correspondent, applauded the timely completion of the road while commercial drivers and private car owners have different things to be thankful for.
A commercial driver who gave his name as Okezie, said the fixed road has solved a lot of problems for them.
“As a graduate of economics, i can tell you happily that we now spend lesser time on traffic on this road and this has reduced our fuel consumption and increased the number of turns we go everyday.
“As you can see, there’s free flow of traffic and almost all bus drivers that diverted from the route when the road was in bad shape are coming back to it because the major reason they changed route has been resolved.
For some private car owners, they won’t be visiting the mechanic often to fix their car shock and linkages.
“This is my major route daily and for now, i wont be visiting my mechanic on a monthly basis to fix my linkage because the road is now very smooth,” said a motorist who gave his name as Jasper.
He went on to enjoin the state government to put in mechanism for the maintenance of the road “so we don’t return to Egypt.”
A Shop owner in the area, Okechukwu said he won’t have to worry about dusts changing the colour of his wares any longer “and for me, this is the best thing that has happened to my business. sometimes, I’m forced to sell at cost price so i don’t lose completely because of the adverse effect dust has on my stuffs.”
However, the story isn’t the same for roadside hawkers who said that business has been bad as vehicles no longer slowdown for them to make sales.
Journalist101 reports that the over 2.3km road with pedestrian walkway from IMT round-about to Nwodo down to Dhamija junction has been completed and ready for commissioning,
