Chief Magistrate, Enugu North Magistrate Court of Enugu State, Nigeria has sentenced the duo of Ejike Okorie “m”, aged 26, and Christopher Kindness “m”, aged 25, both of Ameke Ngwo in Udi LGA to three years imprisonment without the option of fine.
The sentencing followed their arraignment by the Enugu Police Command for criminal acts of “one-chance” robbery, abduction, and fraudulently obtaining money and other belongings from unsuspecting victims within Enugu metropolis.
They were arraigned in the Enugu North Chief Magistrate Court of Enugu State, Nigeria, and found guilty of the offenses of conspiracy and abduction.
JOURNALIST101 recalls that an angry mob on April 14th, intercepted the suspects before the police swift intervention, beat them up, and set ablaze their criminal operational minibus at the P-and-T bus stop, Okpara Avenue, after an alarm was raised over the victim’s abduction.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, *CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), has applauded the Court’s swift judgment on the case. He, however, re-emphasized the need for citizens to remain law-abiding and support the police by arresting and handing over criminal suspects for statutory investigation and prosecution, as exemplified in this case. This, he notes, is against resorting to illegal self-help through jungle justice.
