The governor of Rivers state, Siminalayi Fubara has carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle taking away loyalists of his predecessor from their juicy ministries.
Those affected by the shakeup includes the commissioners of Justice and the Finance, loyalists of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
The Governor, in a statement on Tuesday night by the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, redeployed the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of the state, Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office).
Fubara also sent the Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu, to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment.
The Governor asked them to immediately hand over to their respective permanent secretaries.
He said: “They are to hand over to their respective permanent secretaries immediately as this deployment takes immediate effect. All had over processes must be completed immediately”.
Fubara has been embroiled in a debilitating political battle with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
Many of the commissioners either served while he held sway as governor or personally nominated by him.
Most, therefore, are loyal to him rather than Governor Fubara.
As Fubara redeploys the commissioners loyal to Wike, many are waiting to see how that will impact on the crisis rocking the state.
