MultiChoice has once again increased the prices of its DStv and GOtv packages, citing economic woes in Nigeria.

In a statement on Wednesday, MultiChoice disclosed that the new price would take effect from May 1.

“We understand the impact this change may have on you – our valued customer,” said MultiChoice in a statement to its customers.

The company’s updated price list showed a 25 per cent increase in the price of its packages across the board. The new price hike came just four months after a previous hike in price last December.

According to the updated price list, DStv Premium package increased by 25.4 per cent from 29,500 to 37,000, similarly, the DStv Compact+ has gone up by 20.8 per cent from 19,800 to 25,000, while the Compact package increased by 20.3 per cent from 12,500 to 15,700, respectively.

The GOtv packages were also increased. For instance, Supa+ was increased from N12,500 to N15,700; Supa from N7,600 to N9,600; Max from N5,700 to N7,200; and Jolli from N3,950 to N4,850.

MultiChoice’s previous price hike in December had witnessed a 20 per cent price hike, which occurred days after the company had announced in its third-quarter financial statement a $72 million loss.

The entertainment firm has continued to blame its decision on the country’s economic woes, which have affected the cost of fuel and other commodities and raised the cost of business operations in Nigeria.
