Odimma Orsu Initiative has commended the efforts of their state Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma in restoring peace in their community.
In a statement signed by the media unit of Odimma Orsu Initiative, they lamented the destruction of their area “criminal elements masquerading as members of ESN/IPOB for over three years now. The seemingly intractable activities of the murderous criminals characterized by kidnappings, car jacking and sale, human organ trafficking and harvesting, human head hunting, cannibalism, arson, looting of personal/household properties, serial rape/girl child sexual abuse, forced marriage and other miscellaneous acts of terrorism have led to grounding of every form of Business activities, involuntary exile of illustrious indigenes, and the total despoliation of the various communities leaving aged men and women including other vulnerable denizens stranded in penury, loneliness, acute hunger, uncertainty and untimely death among other ills .
The group added that “though the wave of insecurity permeated the entire South East, the situation in Imo State was worsened by the presence of the so called “Supreme Council” (now destroyed ) in the “Mother Valley” located within the precincts of the state, Orsu LGA in particular. Hostility reached a crescendo following the elimination of a key member of the group named Ikonso and the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu who has been undergoing treason trials since 2021.”
In the midst of the challenges, they thanked the governor for rising up to the occasion and putting on machineries on ground to ensure that normalcy is restored in their area and called their people to support the security agencies to ensure that the peace in their area is permanent.
“Imo state is blessed to have a brave, ebullient and compassionate governor in the person of Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma who harkened to the cry of anguish of our people and has fought so bravely against the marauding vermins in Imo state over the last three years.
“Precisely on Sunday 11th February, 2024, Imo state government ably led by the indefatigable and brave governor, boldly seized the bull by its horns when all security apparatus including the Nigerian Armed Forces, the DSS, Civil Defence, the Nigerian Police and the State’s Owned Security Agency were deployed to Orsu LGA in a Joint Operation to finally put a stop to the nefarious banditry of ESN IPOB in the locality. In the course of the attack, the so-called mother valley housing the “Supreme Council” was completely overrun and destroyed and sophisticated weapons , various incriminating materials and communication gadgets of the ESN criminals were recovered.
“The success of the joint operation was welcomed by an unprecedented outpouring of joy across Orsu and Imo State in general. One month and few weeks after, the indigenes and other stakeholders of Orsu LGA as represented by Odimma Orsu Initiative (OOI) are proud to acknowledge that the selfless, dogged and determined effort of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Governor of Imo state has paid off even as security agents are still busy clearing the remnants of the terrorists in Orsu LGA for good.
