Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has increased minimum wage of workers in the state to N70,000.
The Governor announced this decision on Monday while inaugurating the Labour House in the state. He further disclosed that the new minimum wage for civil servants comes into effect on May 1st, 2024.
Obaseki is currently serving out his second term even as the state gears up for another governorship election later in September this year.
A member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Obaseki is strongly backing the party’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo, ahead of the contest which is likely to be a keen battle as other political parties get set to fight for the number one seat of power in the state.
