Vice President Kashim Shettima

Nigeria Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has declared that the current efforts of the federal government to fix the country requires necessary sacrifices from Nigerians to secure a brighter future for the country.

Shettima dropped the hint in his speech at a Policy Roundtable Conference organised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Professionals Forum to mark President Bola Tinubu’s one year in office held in Abuja on Tuesday.

He equally appealed for patience and collective efforts from all Nigerians as the federal government work towards a future of safety, prosperity, and optimism that serves all.

According to him, “The ongoing digitisation of revenue collection across all government sectors is expected to yield significant results and enhance the transparency we have promised the people of Nigeria.

“In our quest for economic recovery, we must recognise that we are not here to cut corners. The path we have chosen involves necessary sacrifices, but these are essential for securing a brighter future for Nigeria. Our economic indicators will improve as we continue to implement our policies, and we are confident that significant growth is on the horizon.

“Our interventions to save the economy of the nation have been crucial in combating economic sabotage by identifying individuals and groups masterminding these setbacks and profiting from them, whether through currency manipulation or institutionalised corruption. The results of our interventions are promising, and we are proud of the progress made in strengthening the Naira.

“As leaders, we must shoulder the responsibility of our decisions. We must be guided by data and a clear vision for our nation. This is why we also appeal for patience and collective effort from all Nigerians as we work towards a future of safety, prosperity, and optimism that serves all,” he said.

Bringing other message of assurances, the former governor of Borno State said that; “the solutions this administration has rolled out are designed to deal with the remnants of long-standing issues that have undermined our economy head-on, rather than opting for temporary fixes.

“This is essential for the health and future of our nation. These decisions are to guarantee the course of our nation for generations to come instead of postponing the setbacks for our children and their children,” he said.
