A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu state, Hon Humphrey Nwodo on Thursday described Governor Peter Mbah as a visionary leader, whose service to the people has remained unequalled.
Nwodo, stated in Enugu that the award of excellence being conferred on the governor by one of the leading media outfits in Nigeria, Vanguard Newspaper, truly marks the governor out as one who has demonstrated unwavering commitment in the growth and development of the state.
He stated that the award was the third in less than one year, after that of the New Telegraph and Sun Newspapers, stressing that it underscored the value of integrity, prudence and selfless service Mbah has placed on his administration.
Nwodo disclosed that Mbah since assumption of office in May last year, has demonstrated that governance was a serious business that must transform society and the life of the people.
He recalled some key projects of the governor as the restoration of potable water in Enugu urban, reconstruction and rehabilitation of over 71 urban and rural roads, the new Enugu City project, the Owo/Ubahu/Ama Nkanu/Neke/Ikem dual carriage road, reactivation of moribund industries, the ongoing Smart School project in the 260 wards of the state; ongoing health projects in the 260 wards and the recently conceived modern Transport Interchange among others.
Nwodo stated that the governor’s promise to lift Enugu’s GDP from 4 billion US dollars to 30 billion US dollars was already gaining momentum, adding that the state currently was moving towards less reliance on Federal Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) to an economy that is sustainable to take care of her needs.
“It is indeed disruptive and unusual governance that is fast improving the well-being of Enugu state. Mbah has truly giving Enugu a quantum leap. By providing the ambience needed for the growth and development of the state, all we are waiting for is to allow these things come to fruition. He had really walked the talk and we are grateful to God for the vision of a man.
“I am convinced that the award by Vanguard Newspaper will not be his last. If he has received three awards in less than one year, it means that the future will hold brighter prospects with many more awards and commendation for the services he has begun for the good of Ndi Enugu”, Nwodo added.
He underlined the giant moves so far made to place Enugu state on the world map by Governor Mbah through strategic partnerships and alliances, stressing that it was only a matter of time for “these strides to come to fruition in the state”.
