Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, 15th Emir of Kano, has moved into a palace in the ancient town following his return to the town in the early hours of Saturday.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who sacked Ado Bayero alongside other Emirs appointed by his predecessor, Abdullahi Ganduje, had given them 48 hours to vacate their palaces and hand over to the Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affair.
He had subsequently announced the reinstatement of Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, whom Ganduje deposed in 2020.
The governor issued a reappointment letter to Sanusi on Friday and he led Jumat prayers at Government House, Kano.
But in the early hours of Saturday, Ado Bayero returned to Kano and was welcomed by a crowd of supporters.
He later moved into the palace in Nassarawa, fueling confusion.
However, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II has taken over the Gidan Rumfa palace.
The two palaces are now under heavy security cover.
