Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, has congratulated Mrs Abigail Marshall Katung, the first African Lord Mayor of Leeds in the United Kingdom.
Obi in a series of posts on his X account, prayed to God to grant her “the wisdom and strength to function effectively in her new position, impact more positively on the society and remain a good ambassador of Nigeria.”
The post reads:
I sincerely congratulate a Nigerian-British politician, Mrs Abigail Marshall Katung, who emerged as the first African Lord Mayor of Leeds in the United Kingdom and has been officially sworn in as the 130th lord mayor of Leeds.
She is reported to be the first person of African descent to hold the position. Mrs Abigail Marshall Katung is the wife of Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District.
May God grant her the wisdom and strength to function effectively in her new position, impact more positively on the society and remain a good ambassador of Nigeria, and continue to contribute to the development of our nation as we build a New Nigeria for all.
