Foremost Engineer, real estate mogul and philanthropist, Engr. Lawrence Uzor, has appealled to Nigerian leaders at all levels to look into the situation of the citizens and put their welfare first.

Engr. Uzor in a statement signed by his media aide, Hon.Jideofor Chijioke urged the leaders to as a matter of urgency, “prioritize the welfare and well-being of Nigerians, particularly the youths, who are bearing the brunt of the current inflation and economic hardship.”

He emphasized that “our leaders must make sacrifices, cut down austentatious lifestyle, reduce the cost of governance, increase civil servants’ salaries, and implement programmes that benefit the general public, especially the youth constituency.

Engr. Uzor “lamented that our youths are suffering excessively, with many losing hope,” stressing that “Nigeria needs radical change in critical areas to achieve optimal results.

He also highlighted the need to “review unnecessary expenditures, such as the huge amounts spent on overseas workshops that yield little or no tangible benefits.” Instead, he suggested “channeling resources into intensive training programmes for youths on various agricultural value chains, accompanied by a take-off grant to empower them.

“By adopting this approach, we can reduce crime and insecurity, create a means of livelihood for Nigerians, grow local content, improve our economy, and strengthen our currency through export of farm produce.”

Engr. Uzor emphasized that “it is time to do things the right way to achieve better results, as Nigerians are suffering and dying in their numbers, with many youths resorting to crime just to survive, and “urged the leaders to act now before it is too late, showing genuine sympathy and commitment to alleviating poverty and suffering, rather than playing politics with matters of such importance.”
