Following the commencement of an indefinite strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), activities at the National Assembly have been brought to a standstill this morning.

The second gate to the complex has been blocked with two 16-seater buses, and the gate to the annex building, which could have served as an alternative entrance for workers, is also blocked by union officials enforcing the strike.

National Assembly workers, unable to enter, were seen gathered in clusters discussing the situation.

Attempts to speak with some union officials were unsuccessful, as they stated they were not authorized to speak with the press. They advised journalists to contact the presidents of both unions for further inquiries.

On Sunday, the leadership of the NLC and TUC met with the National Assembly leadership to resolve the minimum wage dispute, but the talks were unsuccessful.
