The first meeting after the suspension of the industrial action by the organised Labour has ended without a resolution as the minimum wage tripartite committee is yet to receive the federal government’s template.

The organised labour made up of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Trade Union Congress, TUC had suspended the strike to allow for more negotiation with the Federal Government on a figure that will be the new minimum wage.

However, according to a report by AIT, the meeting ended inconclusively as the Tripartite committee without any resolution.

While labour disclosed that the government has not presented any amount higher than N60, 000, the government maintains that it is working on a template that will be acceptable to not only organised labour but the organised private sector.

On the complaints that sub-nationals are frustrating the process of agreeing on a new minimum wage since a few states are not yet implementing the N30,000 minimum wage, Minister of Labour provided some explanation.

The June 5 minimum wage tripartite committee meeting had in attendance the Minister of Finance and coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, Kwara State Governor, Abdulrazak Abdularaham and the Head of he Federal civil service, Folasade Yemi-Esan.
