Peterside demanded that Osimhen, who had harshly criticized the former Super Eagles coach Finidi George, tenders an apology.
“Finidi George is a legend and must be respected. If you have issues with him, pick up your phone and call him. That’s what responsible people do. You just showed a bit of irresponsibility, and that’s unexpected,” Peterside said.
He also urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to demand Osimhen to issue a public apology.
“He needs to come out openly and apologize for ranting and just saying things. Our national team is sacred. When we wore the jersey, we respected it and those who wore it before us. He’s neither the first nor the last.
“He should come out openly and apologize to former footballers, apologize to the NFF, apologize to Finidi and apologize to Nigerians.
“Action should be taken or he should be banned from the national team because if we allow this kind of thing to continue it will not go well for Nigeria.”
“We demand an apology from Victor Osimhen, he should do a thing like this, for those of us that played for this country it’s an insult to insult one of us,” He concluded.
