The reigning champions of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Rangers International FC of Enugu, have attributed their success to the enormous support from Governor Peter Mbah and their sponsor, Afrinvest West Africa Limited.

Journalist101 reports that Enugu Rangers were crowned champions of the 2023/2024 NPFL on Sunday after topping the league table with 70 points.

In a pre-celebration Press Conference held in Enugu, the management of the football club said both Mbah and Afrinvest made their campaign in the last season very seamless.

The Enugu State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Barr. Lloyd Ekweremadu said “The support of His Excellency, Dr Peter Mbah has placed rangers as a team to watch in the country.

“We’re grateful to Afrinvest West Africa Limited, for believing and trusting us even when others didn’t give us a chance. Their participation is the biggest in the history of the NPFL and we’re very grateful for their partnership.”

Barr. Ekweremadu thanked the entire management of Rangers, especially, the Head Coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu whom he said, brought a winning culture to the team which brought the victory.

Similarly, the General Manager of the club, Amobi Ezeaku, while thanking Gov Mbah for ensuring that the club returns to their home turf; “the Cathedral” said that Afrinvest was exceptional in their support.

“Sometimes, they go outside the scope of their contract to support Rangers and this helped in no small way in the victory we’re celebrating today.”

Speaking further, Ezeaku said Rangers International FC of Enugu is ready to compete in the next season’s CAF Champions League starting in August this year and they’re already scouting for seasoned players across the continent, whom he believed would bolster the squad to navigate the demanding competition.

He also thanked other good-spirited individuals such as Arthur Eze among others for their support.

In his remarks, the Group Managing Director (GMD), Afrinvest, Ike Chioke, said the partnership with Rangers which is over 8 years old, goes beyond their love for football.

“Our support for rangers goes beyond this partnership but our understanding of the need to support the youths of Nigeria and we know that sports provides that platform.”

Dr. Chioke also thanked Governor Mbah “for his foresight and vision to transform the round leather game in Enugu state.”

He also said that their investment in Rangers FC is one of the best things that happened to the company and their online presence has also been impacted positively.
