Dr. Tiri Gyan David, the Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development at the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA), has tragically lost his life in a bandits attack in Katsina State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday at his residence in Yarima Quarters, Low-Cost Estate, Dutsinma Local Government Area of the state.
According to an eyewitness who spoke to Channels TV, the attackers, armed with sophisticated weaponry, invaded the community around 1:30am.
They fired shots indiscriminately, terrifying residents.
During the raid, the bandits also abducted two of Dr. David’s children.
Abubakar Sadiq, the spokesperson for the Katsina Police Command, confirmed the attack, expressing that a comprehensive statement would be issued shortly.
Despite efforts by the state government and security agencies to restore peace, Dutsinma remains one of the 10 front-line local government areas frequently targeted by bandits.
