Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, ECTDA has sealed a 2-storey building under construction after Journalist101’s story on the death of a carpenter in the site.
This is even as the Abakpa Division of Enugu Police Command has taken the owner of the collapsed building into custody.
Journalist101 had reported that a carpenter lost his life when a part of the building located along Ugwunwani road off corner stone bus stop caved-in on Tuesday, 9th July, 2024 around 9am.
An eyewitness told JOURNALIST101 that the collapsed part of the building is a step which was introduced in the building.
āThe carpenter whoās from Cross River State was losing the planks used in the construction when the step collapsed,ā the witness said.
When our correspondent visited the site this night, it was discovered that the entire building has been sealed by ECTDA.
A staff of the regulatory Agency told our staff that they’ll look into their files to ensure they’ve the necessary approval before the next line of action will be taken.
Also, a source at the Abakpa Division of Enugu Police Command told our correspondent that the owner of the building is currently in their custody.
“The man is with us,” the officer who doesn’t want his name in print as he wasn’t authorised to speak said.
“He has been here since morning and the relatives of the deceased were also here.”
