In a strange turn of event, a police inspector attached to ‘C’ Division of the Kogi State Police Command, Alhaji Aminu Muhammed, has been reportedly arrested with others in connection with a car theft in Lokoja, the state capital.

A report by Daily Trust said the police officer and his accomplice were arrested on Sunday, following a robbery that occured on June 14, 2024 at a residence near his duty post in Lokoja where the car was stolen.

Luck ran out of the suspects when the stolen car was found in the workshop of a panel beater, one Arome Moses.

Operatives of the Quick Response Unit (QRU) attached to the Police Area Command, Idah was said to have been alerted, leading to the arrest of the panel beater at ochadamu, and later the police officer and other suspects.

“The panel beater was arrested while working to change the colour of the car at his workshop at Ochadamu, near Anyigba.

“The car’s number plate had already been changed to an Abuja number, with a car dealer’s receipt backdated to 2020,” a source said.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, William Ayah, confirmed the incident, saying that the police officer had been arrested.

The PPRO added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Bertrand Onuoha, had ordered for thorough investigation into the matter.
