The member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu in the House of Representatives, Arc. Salman Idris, has defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, which was read on the floor of the Green Chamber, Arc. Salman stated that the decision followed careful consultations with key stakeholders in his Federal Constituency.
He noted that the move was also in response to calls from his constituents to align with the political party that best accommodates their collective values and principles.
The letter reads “I wish to formally notify The Rt. Honourable Speaker and respected colleagues that due to the National Leadership crisis within African Democratic Congress.
I have resolved, after careful consideration and consultation with critical stakeholders, political associates, and constituents in Kabba-Bunu/ljumu Federal Constituency and Kogi State at large to move from The African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the All Progressive Congress (APC) with immediate effect.
“As a true representative of the people, I believe that this defection has become exigent owing to the increase call from my constituents to align myself with the political party that will best accommodate our collective political values and principles.”
