The member representing Enugu North and South Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu, has assured his constituents that his representation would yield positive developments that would usher in transformative change.

Hon. Atu offered this assurance on Tuesday during the flag-off of one of his constituency projects; the Eke Market – Umumba – Ugwuaji – Afọr Obeagu Link, located in Ugwuaji Awkunanaw, Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State.

He emphasized that the access road would enable the swift evacuation of farm produce to the two major markets in the community and beyond as well as boost the economic activities in the area.

“This initiative is part of the campaign promises I made to our people during my campaign, and a way to express my gratitude to the good people of Ugwuaji for their unwavering support,” he said.

“I thank the people of Ugwuaji community for believing in me and giving me your mandate to represent you. It is through the grace of God, and I believe that to whom much is given, much is expected. I assure you that more dividends of democracy are on the way; I have already installed solar streetlights in most parts of the constituency.”

“What I envision for the people to reposition and ensure quality representation and people-oriented leadership is substantial,” he added.

On the choice of the community for the flag off of the project, the lawmaker started tha; “Every positive change must start from somewhere, and as we choose to begin here, others will follow suit. The economic significance of this project cannot be overstated, as it will lessen the struggles faced by our people while trying to traverse between our two major markets.

“This project is a necessity and will be replicated in other areas, as we aim to avoid embarking on elephant projects that do not address the real problems faced by the masses.

Hon. Atu also encouraged the villager to provide the necessary support to the contractors for the successful execution of the project, which has been segmented into batches, noting that the speed of work would facilitate the approval of subsequent phases.

“When work progresses quickly, approvals will follow suit. The project has been divided into batches, and subsequent phases can only commence after this initial one is completed.”

Hon. Atu praised Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State for his exceptional efforts in fostering political unity and stability in the state, which has promoted immense collaboration among political leaders, regardless of their party affiliations.

Igwe Nwobodo Nyia, the Traditional Ruler of Obeagu Ugwuaji Autonomous Community, described Atu as a trailblazer sent by God to liberate Ugwuaji from the lack of democratic dividends.

“We are witnessing development that has eluded our people for years; today, Atu has demonstrated his capability in providing leadership and direction,” he said.

“I urge other politicians and leaders to emulate Atu by being people-centered in their actions and working to alleviate hardship among the populace,” Nyia added.

Chief Chinweuba Ngwu, Chairman of the Labour Party in Enugu South LGA, expressed pride in Atu’s achievements within a short time in the House of Representatives, noting, “Atu has sponsored 14 bills and remains an outspoken member of the House.”

He highlighted Atu’s previous initiatives, which included the extensive provision of solar streetlights, scholarships for students, and direct empowerment for indigent residents within the constituency.

In his speech, the Chief Consultant and CEO of Sir Azodo Engineering Services Ltd, Engr. Onyeka Azodo, pledged the timely execution of the project.

He affirmed his commitment to delivering a quality project in accordance with the approved specifications and designs.

A resident of Ugwuaji community, Mrs. Peace Onuoha, expressed gratitude to Atu and the Federal Government for their efforts, stating, “With the existing solar streetlights and the new road, our trade in Eke market will flourish even more.”
