The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that it is unaware of the current political situation of former state governor, Rotimi Amaechi.

Chief Tony Okocha, the Chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee in Rivers, made this announcement on Tuesday at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja while updating reporters on the situation in the state.

Remember that Amaechi finished second in the 2022 APC primary election, which selected Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s presidential candidate for the upcoming 2023 election.

Since that time, Amaechi, who previously served as the transportation minister, has been absent from political discussions and reportedly did not support the party during last year’s general elections.

In reply to a question about Amaechi’s current status as a member of the APC in the state, Okocha stated, I served as Chief of Staff to Rotimi Amaechi. You might remember that at one time, he enrolled in law school, and during his year there, he became unreachable. r>. You are also aware that he vanished without a trace following the presidential primary election. I can’t say for certain if he is still a party member since he didn’t attend any of the meetings we organized.

“I’ll share an instance of a meeting we organized for all former governors and ministers. He (Ameachi) sent a message to the party’s secretary, cautioning him not to ever send him another message regarding the party. So, when you speak to him, inquire about his true allegiance. Personally, I’m uncertain about where he stands.”

In response to a query regarding the influence of former state governor and current Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, on the decisions of the Rivers State APC, Okocha stated that he is not a registered member of the APC and does not engage in such matters.

Nevertheless, attempts to contact Amaechi for comments were unsuccessful by the time of publication.
