The Decimal Foundation School in Awka, Anambra State, celebrated its 13th Graduation Party on Friday, July 26, with a fervent appeal to the state government to repair the severely dilapidated roads in the area, which have become perilous for students, parents, staff, and residents of the Obinagu community.
The Head Teacher, Mrs. Abadom Vivian, voiced this concern during a welcome address delivered by four-year-old Master Azubuike Chimnolu. She expressed gratitude to parents, the management team, Mrs. Ezebuilo Blessing Ginikanwa, Head of Decimal Schools, staff, and well-wishers for their contributions in making this significant event a success.
Mrs. Abadom also urged members of the Parent/Teachers’ Association (PTA) to collaborate with relevant authorities to address the road conditions, which are damaging the school buses and parents’ vehicles, thereby fostering a more conducive environment for education.
She congratulated the 35 nursery and primary graduates, wishing them bright futures filled with purpose and joy.
In his brief remarks, PTA Chairman Hon. Destiny E. Jonas praised the school for its high-quality academic and extracurricular programs, reaffirming the PTA’s commitment to ongoing support, and congratulated the 2024 graduates on their advancement to the next stage of their educational journeys.
Mr. Victor Okere, representing the school proprietress, delivered a keynote speech, commending the institution for its outstanding performance in academics, examinations, and competitions since its establishment, while wishing the pupils future success.
The colorful ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including Professor and Mrs. Cynado Ezeogidi, Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Chief Chika Ezeh, and Ozo Albert Nwafor, who passionately urged Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo to rehabilitate the local roads to improve the situation for both the school and its residents.
Event highlights included calisthenics, a debate, an arts exhibition, a cake-cutting ceremony, candle lighting, and lively musical performances by the pupils, captivating the audience.
