The Registrar of Wigwe University, Ulonna Inyama, has died.

Inyama reportedly passed away in an Abuja hospital on Saturday due to a wrong blood transfusion.

A family source explained that the deceased suffered a fatal reaction after receiving the incorrect blood type.

The source stated, “We were informed that her death resulted from a wrong blood transfusion after she lost blood due to complications from fibroids.

“She was later referred to another hospital, where she succumbed to a worsening condition stemming from those complications,” the source told Vanguard.

The family is now calling for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death to ensure accountability and prevent future occurrences.

Before joining Wigwe University, Inyama served as the Chief Personnel Officer and Head of Strategic Communications/Special Duties in the office of the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC).

This incident has further raised concerns about the quality of medical care and safety protocols in Nigeria.

Her passing comes just months after the tragic death of Wigwe University’s founder, Herbert Wigwe, who died alongside his wife and son in a helicopter crash in the USA.
