Hundreds of travelers are currently stranded at the Suleja axis of the Abuja-Kaduna highway in Niger State due to protesters obstructing free movement on a section of the road.

An Abuja resident, Abubakar Ibrahim, who was scheduled to travel to his home state of Kaduna, told Daily Trust around 11:40 a.m. on Thursday that the vehicle he boarded had been stopped for over two hours near Gauraka Junction.

“I left Zuba town before 10 a.m., but we’ve been stuck here at Gauraka Junction for about two hours. Protesting youths have blocked the highway,” he said.

He noted that the gridlock stretched several kilometers, covering the area between Aluminum Village and the nearby Zuma military barracks.

“There are a few policemen standing at a distance, but they are powerless to resolve the roadblock due to the overwhelming number of youths.”
