Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have dispersed a group of youths attempting to break into a store along Zoo Road in the state capital.
The suspects tried to force their way into the two-story building housing Sadaraki Stores. However, the police quickly intervened to prevent their actions. By the time security operatives arrived, the suspects had already damaged several windows of the building.
Thus far, compliance with the protest against hunger in the ancient city has been low, as many residents remain indoors.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf stated on Wednesday that he had received intelligence suggesting that nefarious individuals were plotting to hijack the protest. The governor invited genuine protesters to the Government House in Kano and warned troublemakers to stay away from the state.
