One of the domestic workers of Aribemchukwu, the slain daughter of Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, has confessed to involvement in her boss’s murder, a police source disclosed exclusively on Thursday.
The deceased, affectionately known as Chuchu, was allegedly killed in her Parkview Estate residence in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State.
While a family source stated that she was killed on Tuesday night, her lifeless body was discovered on Wednesday morning, found outside the gate of her residence.
Her three domestic employees—a house help, a security guard, and a driver—were arrested in connection with the murder.
Providing updates on the investigation, a police source, who wished to remain anonymous as he was not authorized to speak on the matter, revealed that the house help confessed during interrogation.
The source clarified that the murder occurred inside the victim’s room, and her body was dragged outside, where it was dumped at the gate.
According to the source, the suspects attempted to clean up the bloodstains but failed to remove all evidence, likely due to the chaos of the nighttime act.
“The deceased was killed in her room, and her body was dragged to the front of the gate to create the impression that she was murdered on the spot. Afterward, they tried to clean the bloodstains but missed several spots. The cleanup was hasty because it happened at night.”
“The house help did not deny her involvement. She said, ‘We do am, na we do am’ during interrogation, and her statements corroborated the evidence at the scene,” the police source disclosed.
The suspects reportedly also packed all the valuables from the deceased’s home immediately after the murder.
The source confirmed that the three domestic workers had all been employed together just a week before the tragic incident.
Until her untimely death, Aribemchukwu was a doctor and had recently married.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that investigations are still ongoing.
He said, “Investigations are still underway regarding the incident. We will provide updates as soon as there are further developments.”
