Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa of the Federal High Court in Lagos declared the sale of Nigeria Air to Ethiopian Airlines null and void on Monday.
The court further ordered that the Federal Government must not proceed with the proposed establishment of a national carrier, Nigeria Air.
This ruling came as the judge granted the requests of the Registered Trustees of the Airline Operators of Nigeria and five other aviation industry stakeholders.
The judge confirmed that all requested reliefs were granted, with the exception of the eighth request for N2 billion in damages.
The plaintiffs in the case included the Registered Trustees of the Airline Operators of Nigeria, along with Azman Air Services Limited, Air Peace Limited, Max Air Limited, United Nigeria Airlines Company Limited, and Topbrass Aviation Limited, who were listed as the first to sixth plaintiffs.
The defendants included Nigeria Air Limited, Ethiopian Airlines, Senator Hadi Sirika (former Minister of Aviation), and the Attorney-General of the Federation.
The plaintiffs sought a court order to annul the entire bidding and selection processes for the Nigeria Air project, as well as to challenge the approval and selection of the second defendant by the first, third, and fourth defendants.
