Tension has enveloped Nkpologwu, a quiet town in the Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, following a brazen kidnapping that has left the community in shock.

After the attack which took place in the early hours of Sunday, August 11, the armed men seized three individuals, including a prominent lawyer.

Eyewitness accounts and a distressing video circulating on social media depict a chaotic scene as the gunmen descended upon the community between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. The footage reveals a vehicle overturned along the Nkpologwu-Akpo Road, believed to belong to one of the victims.

Prof. Ferdinand Ezeiruaku, the President General of Nkpologwu Community, confirmed the harrowing incident during a phone interview, describing how the trio was taken from various locations by heavily armed assailants.

Among the victims, two men, including the lawyer, reside in Abuja, while the third is from Port Harcourt. They had returned home with hopes of participating in an event organized by the local women’s group as part of their August meeting, a celebration now overshadowed by fear.

Ezeiruaku expressed his deep concern for the safety of those abducted, urging the community and beyond to come together in prayer for their swift and safe return.

When reached for comment, Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer SP Ikenga Tochukwu assured that law enforcement is fully aware of the situation and working diligently on a rescue operation.

“The Command is aware of the development and operation is ongoing for possible rescue.”
