A thunderous explosion shattered the morning calm at the secretariat of the Action People’s Party along the GRA axis of Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, on Monday.

Witnesses report that the blast erupted in the dead of night, sending shockwaves through the city.

As of press time, the identity of the assailants remains shrouded in mystery, but shadows of suspicion linger, pointing to the notorious political thugs who haunt the region.

In a brazen act of violence, the attackers hurled what appeared to be dynamite into the building, shattering windows and doors, and leaving a trail of destruction across party property.

This attack is particularly ominous as rumors swirl around Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s potential defection to the APP, a move prompted by the alleged takeover of the People’s Democratic Party by his former boss and fierce rival, Nyesom Wike.

A report by DAILY TRUST said the ceiling hung in tatters and remnants of broken fittings littered the floor, while anxious party officials huddled together, grappling with the shocking turn of events.

One party official, cloaked in anonymity, candidly revealed, “Yes, I’m a member of the APP. I was informed of the attack around 3 AM today.

“This is politically driven, without a doubt. They see the APP rising, gaining momentum in the state. We urge the police to launch a swift investigation and bring those responsible to justice.”
