In a chilling incident that unfolded on Wednesday evening, bandits kidnapped a mobile police officer in the Kampani community of Wase local government area in Plateau state.

According to local sources, the officer and a soldier were ambushed while traveling from Zurak community to Kampani. In the chaos, the soldier managed to escape, but the police officer was taken captive.

Both officers were part of a security team tasked with patrolling the hotspots of banditry affecting communities like Bangalala, Kampani, and Zurak.

Sahapi Sambo, a local youth leader, confirmed the harrowing news: “They were en route to meet their colleagues when the attack happened. Our community has been plagued by banditry for some time now, which is why security personnel remain vigilant to protect lives and property. At this moment, we have no information on the police officer’s whereabouts.”

In response to the incident, security forces—including soldiers, police, and vigilantes—were mobilized on Thursday to track down the bandits and launch a rescue operation for the abducted officer.
