The man whose wife allegedly tore his international passport at Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos is now seeking forgiveness from Nigerians.
The couple, traveling with their three children, landed from an European country on Saturday, igniting a spectacle that quickly captured the internet’s attention.
When confronted about her shocking outburst, the visibly distressed woman shot back, “Is it your passport?” in the viral video.
In an interview, she explained her actions, revealing that the act was born from years of pain inflicted by her husband throughout their marriage.
“I meant to destroy the passport from our originating country, but I didn’t want to create more stress for him,” she confessed.
As the drama unfolded, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) announced that it was investigating the matter and had summoned the woman for questioning.
However, in an unexpected twist, her husband later released a video clarifying that the incident was merely a stunt, insisting that his passport was untouched.
“I’m here with my children to send a heartfelt message to the public and the world. What my wife ripped was not my passport. It’s intact. This was all part of a skit inspired by someone’s story,” he revealed.
“We never anticipated it would escalate like this. I’m pleading with everyone to forgive us. The immigration officers have confirmed my passport is safe,” he added.
