80bn Fraud: Produce Yourself For Arraignment— Appeal Court Tells Yahaya Bello

The Court of Appeal has ordered Yahaya Bello, the immediate past governor of Kogi State, to surrender himself for arraignment.

The court also placed a strict injunction on Bello, preventing him from taking any further action regarding the charges he faces until he appears in court.

This ruling comes on the heels of a high-profile incident where the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) attempted to apprehend Bello at his Abuja residence. Governor Usman Ododo intervened, thwarting the EFCC’s efforts to arrest his predecessor.

Now, Bello finds himself embroiled in a legal storm, facing serious allegations of misappropriating over N80 billion during his eight-year tenure. Despite his absence, he has been locked in a battle against these charges, seeking to evade justice while simultaneously trying to relocate his trial to Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

However, Tuesday’s decisive ruling from the Appeal Court has dashed his hopes of stalling the proceedings through legal technicalities, forcing him into a corner. As the clock ticks, the question looms: will Yahaya Bello heed the court’s order, or will he continue to elude the long arm of the law?
