In a shocking turn of events, Nigeria mourns the sudden passing of Rt. Hon Harford Oseke, the former Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly.
Oseke, a respected figure in local politics, tragically collapsed during his exercise routine at the bustling Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka on Monday.
Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead at the scene, with his body later taken to Apex Medical Centre.
Born in August 1960 in Umuawulu, Awka South Local Government Area, Oseke was a man of many achievements.
He pursued a degree in law and recently earned a Ph.D. in Public Administration, showcasing his commitment to knowledge and public service. Beyond academics, he made a name for himself in the freight forwarding industry in Port Harcourt and played a significant role in the importation of fishing feeds into the nation.
His political journey began with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), where he rose to prominence during Peter Obi’s tenure, serving first as Majority Leader and then as Deputy Speaker. Oseke was driven by a desire to represent his community, contesting for a seat in the House of Representatives for Awka North and South Local Government Areas, though he faced a narrow defeat to the late Right Honourable Anayo Nnebe.
A knight of St. Christopher, Harford Oseke leaves behind a legacy of dedication and service, survived by his loving wife and children. The community remembers him not just as a politician, but as a devoted family man and a passionate advocate for progress.
