The governorship candidate for the National Rescue Movement (NRM) in the Edo State election, Dr. Dennis Osahon Aikorogie, has withdrawn his candidacy to join the All Progressive Congress (APC).

This development comes just 29 days before the gubernatorial election scheduled for September 21.

Aikorogie announced his decision to join the APC at a rally on Textile Mill Road in Benin, stating that he made this choice to prioritize the state’s progress over his personal ambitions.

He emphasized that his switch to the APC was influenced by the character of the APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo. Aikorogie praised Senator Okpebholoā€™s impressive record as a serving senator, noting its significance for Edo State. He also mentioned that he is bringing over 5,000 supporters with him to the APC.

Aikorogie expressed confidence that Senator Okpebholo could transform the state’s future if elected governor.

ā€œI am here today to support the APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate, Dennis Idahosa,ā€ Aikorogie stated. ā€œI come with my many supporters, party members, and loyalists to endorse Monday Okpebholoā€™s candidacy because we trust himā€”he is reliable and action-oriented.”

ā€œThis time, we need leaders who take action, not just those who talk,ā€ he added.
