Dr. Jude Ezegwui, the former Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Enugu Branch, has passed away.
A statement from the Bar Association confirmed the sudden death of Dr. Ezegwui, as reported by his family.
The statement, signed by the current chairman, Venatus Odo, noted that the late legal practitioner died on Wednesday, August 22, 2024, after collapsing at his residence in Enugu.
Mr. Odo described Dr. Ezegwui as one of the foundational pillars of their branch.
“Ezegwui was a strong pillar of our branch, serving with dedication and distinction during his tenure as chairman from 2020 to 2022.
“Before that, he held the position of Legal Adviser from 2014 to 2016, and at the time of his passing, he was serving as a Council Member of the NBA Section on Business Law,” he said.
Mr. Odo emphasized that Dr. Ezegwui’s contributions to the Bar and the broader legal profession were immeasurable, and his legacy would continue to inspire them.
“We urge all members of the Bar to keep Dr. Ezegwui’s immediate and extended family in your prayers during this difficult time.
“Let us extend our heartfelt condolences and unwavering support to them while we await further details regarding the arrangements for his burial.”
“Only 18 months ago, Ezegwui mourned the loss of his mother, Mrs. Christiana Nneka Ezegwui, who passed away at the age of 82,” Mr. Odo stated.
