A suspected kidnapper has been arrested while offering the Asr prayer at the Takum Central Mosque Takum town, Taraba State, on Friday.
On the same day, 13 other suspects were arrested along the Takum-Maraban Baissa road.
Meanwhile, the alleged mastermind behind the killing of the Chief of Chanchangi chiefdom and his son was captured by troops from the 6 Brigade/Sector 3 of Operation WHIRL STROKE, in collaboration with other security agencies. These troops also detained 15 other suspected kidnappers and seized arms and ammunition.
These arrests followed a series of operations carried out by the troops across various local government areas in the state.
The Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Captain Oni Olubodunde, reported that on August 18, 2024, troops acted on credible intelligence to raid a criminal hideout in Takum LGA of Taraba State, where a suspected kidnapper named David Musa was arrested.
Preliminary investigations revealed that he worked with a kidnap kingpin known as Ephraim, also referred to as SKIN THE BODY.
In another operation on August 20, 2024, troops apprehended suspected gunrunners identified as James Nuhu and Dan-Asabe Ango in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba.
Captain Oni stated that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to being involved in a series of criminal activities in Wukari and its surrounding areas. They also implicated one Ibrahim Philemon as the armourer who maintains the weapons and proceeds of their criminal syndicate.
