After six tense hours in detention, the Department of State Services (DSS) has finally released Adejuwon Soyinka, thanks to the urgent intervention of the International Press Institute (IPI) Nigeria.
However, the relief of his release comes with a steep price: the agency has confiscated his passport. They have also mandated that he provide his Nigerian address and a reliable phone number, ensuring they can reach him at any moment, as reported by Premium Times.
“I have just been released by the DSS (SSS) in Lagos,” Soyinka shared in a text message to Premium Times.
“They are still holding my passport, though. Right now, I’m in an Uber ordered for me by the Deputy Director of DSS.”
