German tactician Bruno Labbadia has been appointed as the new head coach of the Nigerian men’s national team, the Super Eagles.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced Labbadia’s appointment on Tuesday, concluding a months-long search for a new leader for the former African champions.

In a statement released on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, the NFF confirmed that the German coach will take charge of the Super Eagles immediately.

“German Bruno Labbadia becomes the 37th Head Coach of the @NGSuperEagles,” the NFF stated.

The announcement continues: “The Nigeria Football Federation has reached an agreement with German tactician Bruno Labbadia to lead Nigeria’s Senior Men National Team, the Super Eagles.

NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi stated early Tuesday: “The NFF Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to appoint Mr. Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles.

“The appointment takes effect immediately.”

The Super Eagles have been without a coach since former Ajax winger Finidi George stepped down after a brief tenure.
