The immediate past Chairman of Isi-Uzo Local Government Council and the PDP candidate in Isi-Uzo for the upcoming 2024 Enugu State LGA elections, Hon. Obiora Obeagu, has congratulated Mazi Afam Osigwe (SAN) on his swearing-in as the 32nd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
In his congratulatory message, Obeagu described Osigwe as a longtime classmate, partner, brother, and friend. He emphasized that Osigwe’s landslide victory for the prestigious bar position speaks volumes about his personality, acceptability, character, competence, and ability to lead the Bar during these challenging times.
Obeagu stated, “Mazi Osigwe is a quintessential bar man, a detribalized Nigerian, and a man of the people with great vision and immense leadership qualities that will positively impact both the legal profession and our country.”
He further expressed that Osigwe’s rise to the NBA Presidency did not come as a surprise to him or many others, as it was a long-anticipated outcome.
He revealed, “Osigwe has ascended through the ranks due to hard work, unwavering determination, and a passion for making a difference in the Nigerian Bar Association and our country. He brings valuable experience as a former Chairman of our Unity Bar in Abuja and past General-Secretary of the NBA, among other outstanding achievements.
“Congratulations, Afam Osigwe. You are an erudite lawyer, a bridge-builder, and a phenomenal achiever. We take pride in your remarkable achievements and contributions,” Obeagu stated.
“As you begin your term and work towards your manifesto, I am confident you will remain true to your campaign promises, and I have no doubt that you will succeed in leading an inclusive Bar that addresses the challenges facing the legal profession, the judiciary, and our nation,” he concluded.
