Gunmen, suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents, have killed students at Faudiya School in Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State, according to a report by Daily Trust.

Faudiya School, which belongs to the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), a Shiite sect, was invaded around 3:44 am on Friday while the students were asleep.

“The incident occurred at around 3:44 am when the gunmen invaded Faudiya School, a well-known Shiite institution in Geidam,” a source said.

“They attacked the school while the students were asleep, dragged them outside, and shot them dead.

“There is tension and concern in the town after this incident. People are terrified,” he added.

Another source from the vigilante command told the newspaper that three members of the Shiite sect were killed, while one sustained injuries.

“We don’t know who the gunmen are, but we do know that they killed three students at the school. One person who tried to escape during the incident was injured and has been hospitalized,” he said.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Yobe State Police Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident but did not provide further details.
