The governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, has approved a minimum wage of Seventy Thousand Naira for civil servants in the state.

Governor Nwifuru announced this decision during the grand finale of the Ojiji Izhi New Yam Festival 2024. He instructed relevant government authorities to develop a plan for implementing the new minimum wage, which is set to begin in September.

The governor also expressed his dissatisfaction with the lackluster attitude towards government projects awarded as contracts to prominent leaders in the state, particularly the housing estates in the Izo Autonomous Community of Ishielu Local Government Area.

He directed the Commissioner for Housing to ensure the immediate painting of the houses.

Governor Nwifuru encouraged the people of the state to report any government projects that are experiencing delays due to contractors.

He emphasized that anyone working against his government is also working against the interests of the Izhi-Nnodo Ekumenyi community.
