In a tragic and bizarre incident, police in Edo have apprehended a 19-year-old native doctor, Timothy Dauda, for allegedly shooting his client, Alex Ezekiel, to death during a misguided trial of an “anti-bullet” charm.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Moses Yamu, disclosed the shocking details to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday.
The fateful event unfolded on August 20 in the Onumu Community, near Igara, Akoko Edo Local Government Area.
According to Yamu, the arrest was carried out by operatives from the Igarra Divisional Police Station following the incident.
Eyewitness reports suggest that Dauda had been boasting about his ability to craft charms that could protect against gunshots and machete cuts—a claim that would lead to a fatal miscalculation.
Sources reveal that Ezekiel had visited Dauda’s home seeking the charm when, in a shocking turn of events, the young doctor decided to prove its potency by shooting his client. Tragically, the charm failed spectacularly, and Ezekiel was left with devastating injuries.
Desperate attempts to save him were made as he was rushed to a hospital in Igarra, but it was too late; the medical staff pronounced him dead upon arrival.
As the investigation unfolds, the police spokesman confirmed that Dauda will face prosecution for his reckless actions that resulted in this heartbreaking loss of life.
