Dr. Chidozie Anyiro, the World Bank Co-Task Team Leader for the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), has been honored with the Chieftaincy title of “Oke Nwa Ana Amụrụ Ọha.”
A native of Ikwuano in Abia State and a renowned agricultural economist, Dr. Anyiro received this title on Monday, September 2, 2024, at the palace of His Royal Highness, Igwe (Dr.) Barr. Julius Nnaji, Odezuluigbo 3 of Nike Ancient Kingdom.
While presenting the title and certificate of office on behalf of the Traditional Rulers in Enugu East Senatorial District, Igwe Barr. Dr. Julius Nnaji remarked that Dr. Anyiro’s passion for agriculture and philanthropy has positively impacted countless lives.
He highlighted Dr. Anyiro’s relentless advocacy for assistance to African farmers since joining the World Bank, emphasizing the significant advancements in agricultural production across Africa and the Sub-Saharan region that have resulted from his numerous interventions.
The monarch also praised Dr. Anyiro for his exceptional achievements, particularly with the L-PRES project, and encouraged him to keep making a difference in the lives of others.
“On behalf of my people, I want to express our gratitude for all that you have done and continue to do for humanity,” the monarch stated. “We have been closely following your admirable efforts and are very pleased with your accomplishments. This is why we have chosen to honor you by granting you the title of ‘Oke Nwa Ana Amụrụ Ọha,’ which translates to a special child or son of the people.”
“From now on, you shall be known as ‘Oke Nwa Ana Amụrụ Ọha 1,’” the monarch proclaimed as he presented the certificate of titleship to Dr. Anyiro.
In response, Dr. Chidozie Anyiro expressed his surprise and gratitude for the honor, viewing it as an encouragement to do even more for humanity. He assured everyone that he would continue to leverage his God-given position to create a positive impact.
Dr. Anyiro also urged livestock farmers to fully utilize the opportunities provided by L-PRES to enhance their businesses and productivity, noting that additional interventions are forthcoming.
“The team at L-PRES is dedicated to advancing the agricultural sector by ensuring that farmers have the resources and support they need. This title serves as a reminder of the responsibility I bear, and I am more determined than ever to ensure that our initiatives reach and benefit every farmer, regardless of their location. The future of agriculture in Africa is promising, and together, we can achieve significant growth and resilience in the industry,” Dr. Anyiro emphasized.
Reports indicate that Dr. Anyiro played a key role in attracting the ongoing construction of a regional model veterinary hospital in Enugu, which aims to resolve many challenges facing livestock farming in the Southeast region and enhance productivity in the state.
The event was also attended by other traditional rulers, including His Royal Highness, Igwe Titus Okolo of Amorji Nike, His Royal Highness, Igwe Hyacent Edeani of Amechi Idodo, and His Royal Highness, Igwe Godwin Okeke Arum of Mbuluowo, among others.
