As the local government election in Enugu state approaches, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Igbo-Eze South, Barr Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze, has unavailed his “8-Point PROGRESS Agenda.”

During the manifesto launch on Monday, September 9th, Barr. Ukwueze described the agenda as a blueprint for his “transformative vision, focused on grassroots development, youth empowerment, infrastructural growth, education, security, agriculture, and community development.”

Key highlights of the 8-Point PROGRESS Agenda include:

1. Empowering Youths – Establishing skill development centers across the local government area to equip young people with digital and vocational skills.

2. Transforming Education – Upgrading school infrastructure and integrating digital technologies, while ensuring all school-age children are enrolled and receive scholarships.

3. Enhancing Security – Strengthening local security through community policing initiatives and collaborations with law enforcement agencies.

4. Improving Community Amenities– Ensuring that all communities have access to clean water, reliable electricity, and well-maintained roads.

5. Revitalizing Healthcare – Upgrading primary health centers, promoting disease prevention, and establishing community health insurance.

6. Boosting Agriculture for Food Security – Launching “Operation Food for All” to enhance agricultural production and improve market access.

7. Cultivating Sports Excellence– Promoting sports, particularly football, to nurture talent and strengthen community engagement.

8. Protecting the Environment – Fostering environmental awareness, implementing effective waste management, and revitalizing local tourism.

Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, Director of Media for the Ugoferdinand Campaign Council, stated that Barr Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze’s PROGRESS Agenda is underpinned by comprehensive strategies for sustainable financing, emphasizing the mobilization of the elite, tourism development, and the promotion of local industries.

Ugwuanyi highlighted the support of key stakeholders in the party, including Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon Emeka Ajogwu; Dr. Fide Odo, legal adviser to PDP Enugu and former mayor; Igboeze South Party Chairman, Hon Ejike Amedu; Engr Ajibo; Hon Okpoi; Dr. Udaya; and others, who expressed confidence that their candidate will deliver. They urged the community to come out in large numbers to support Barr. Ukwueze in the upcoming election.
