Suspected kidnappers have brutally taken the life of a businessman named Sunny Taxman after reportedly collecting a N10 million ransom from his family. Originally from Alor Agu in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State, he was based in Onitsha, Anambra State, and was abducted three weeks ago.
While details of the incident remain murky, PUNCH Metro reports that the victim was taken from his vehicle by unidentified assailants. An anonymous source, citing restrictions on speaking to the media, revealed that the suspected kidnappers discarded his body in a dry gutter at the boundary of Nkwelle Uke, near RCC, in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
This grim discovery was corroborated by a video circulating on social media, showing the businessman’s lifeless body in the gutter, with bystanders looking on in shock.
Another source close to the victim’s family, who also wished to remain anonymous, confirmed to journalists that the deceased was killed after the N10 million ransom was paid, following three weeks of captivity.
The source speculated, “They may have murdered him because he recognized one of them, fearing exposure. They kidnapped him on his way to an event three weeks ago, demanded a ransom, and even after the N10 million was paid, they still killed him. It’s a tragic loss.”
