Contrary to various speculations, Dame Patience Jonathan has clearly stated that her husband, former President Goodluck Jonathan, will not run for the presidency in the 2027 elections.
During a recent visit from the Greater Igbo Forum (GIF) Worldwide in Abuja, Dame Jonathan clarified that her husband, who has held numerous significant political roles—including local government chairman, deputy governor, governor, vice president, and president—does not have any further political ambitions.
She emphasized that he is focused on supporting the current president and promoting national unity. “My husband has reached the pinnacle of political office. What more could he seek? We are not returning to that arena,” she asserted.
Dame Jonathan expressed her conviction in backing the current administration for the sake of national peace and progress.
She also urged the Igbo people to unite, prioritizing collective well-being over personal or political differences.
“We must love this country more than ourselves. If we fail to cherish our nation, what future do we leave for our children?” she questioned.
She called on the Igbo community to set aside politics and strive for unity and development.
“Let us support one another. Let us love each other. Let us unite and be our brother’s keepers.”
