The Department of State Services (DSS) has been accused of detaining University Lecturer Dr. Abubakar Alkali for his alleged support of the recent #EndBadGovernance protest, which swept through various parts of the country in August.
Recall that Nigerians in different parts of Nigeria, hit the streets from August 1st to 10th to protest against hunger and hardship, which evolved into the #EndBadGovernance Movement.
While protesters enjoyed protection in certain areas, security forces violently suppressed demonstrations in other regions, leading to numerous arrests and subsequent court appearances for a variety of charges.
According to Barrister Deji Adeyanju, an Abuja-based lawyer, Dr. Alkali, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Petroleum & Gas Engineering at Baze University in Abuja, was allegedly abducted by DSS operatives three weeks ago and transported to Sokoto State due to his support for the #EndBadGovernance protest.
“He has been in custody since then,” Adeyanju stated according to a report by LEADERSHIP newspaper.
